Les îlots farouches
[The wild islets] - I have explored the most protected natural spaces in metropolitan France - potentially exploitable or habitable territories, but which no one can dispose of: any form of settlement, hunting, fishing, agriculture, grazing or taking is prohibited. Human presence is generally prohibited and granted only to scientists who come to observe, listen, count, measure.
These spaces of radical protection, said to be in “free evolution”, would represent between 1 and 2% of the metropolitan territory.
In these places, none of which are fenced, nature is in perpetual search for balance, in permanent metamorphosis. Matter decomposes and then recomposes, slowly.
Taking respite from the hegemony of the anthropic world, wild forces evolve freely and naturally, in their sumptuous intimate chaos. They thus arrogate all rights to their own existence and regulate themselves, in the long time that is theirs.
J’ai exploré les espaces naturels les plus protégés de France métropolitaine. Des territoires potentiellement exploitables ou habitables, mais dont personne ne peut disposer : toute forme d’installation, chasse, pêche, agriculture, pâturage ou prélèvement y étant interdite. La présence humaine y est généralement proscrite et concédée aux seuls scientifiques venus observer, écouter, compter, mesurer.
Ces espaces de protection radicale, dits en “libre évolution”, représenteraient entre 1 et 2% du territoire métropolitain.
Dans ces lieux, dont aucun n’est clôturé, la nature est en perpétuelle recherche d’équilibre, en métamorphose permanente. La matière s’y décompose puis s’y recompose, lentement.
Prenant répit de l’hégémonie du monde anthropique, les forces sauvages y évoluent librement et naturellement, dans leur somptueux chaos intime. Elles s’arrogent ainsi tous droits sur leur propre existence et se régulent seules, dans le temps long qui est le leur.
